The Candy Issenman Coonerty Hillel Scholarship honors the legacy of community service exemplified by Candy’s life.
About
Candy Issenman Coonerty was a vital part of the Santa Cruz community during her lifetime. Her legacy of community service includes serving as President of Temple Beth El, member of Santa Cruz Hillel’s Board and Friends of UCSC Library Board, co-owner of Bookshop Santa Cruz, as well as being involved in dozens of other community organizations. She brought her spirit, love, and enthusiasm for Judaism in everything she did.
In her memory, her family started this scholarship in her name.
Scholarship Details
This scholarship is $1,000 general-purpose scholarship for a student with Jewish heritage attending college in Santa Cruz County who has demonstrated the commitment to, and love of, the community that personified Candy’s life.
Successful applicants will show strong commitment to the Jewish community and the greater community through acts of leadership, service, and kindness.
The scholarship winner will be honored at the Temple Beth El Women of Valor Shabbat Service on Friday, March 1st.
Application Deadline
Applications Due Tuesday, January 23rd by 5pm.
