Candy Issenman Coonerty Hillel Scholarship
Candy Issenman Coonerty was a vital part of the Santa Cruz community during her lifetime. Her legacy of community service includes serving as President of Temple Beth El, member of the Hillel Advisory Board and Friends of UCSC Library Board, co-owner of Bookshop Santa Cruz, as well as being involved in dozens of other community organizations. She brought her spirit, love, and enthusiasm for Judaism in everything she did. In her honor, her family started a scholarship in her name. It is a $1,000 general-purpose scholarship for a Jewish student attending college in Santa Cruz County who has demonstrated the commitment to, and love of, the community that personified Candy’s life.
