General Principles
Santa Cruz Hillel is steadfastly committed to supporting Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish homeland and democratic State.
General Principles
- We welcome everyone in the UC Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, and CSU Monterey Bay communities, regardless of political views related to Israel, to our events and activities.
- Speakers on the topic of Israel or Palestine who use the Santa Cruz Hillel facility, accept Santa Cruz Hillel funds, or receive support or publicity from Santa Cruz Hillel staff cannot be in conflict with the Guiding Principle or endorse violence, bigotry, or hatred of any individual or group of people.
- Santa Cruz Hillel offers students opportunities to express a wide spectrum of views related to Israel. We are committed to promoting activities that help students develop a thoughtful relationship with both the people and the land of Israel. We will support and promote these activities so long as the programming is consistent with our Guiding Principle and offers space for constructive dialogue.
- Santa Cruz Hillel is committed to nuanced and complex Israel education for students at the campuses we serve and to creating space for students to have conversations with one another on any topic. We are committed to offering and supporting a venue for student-led conversations on a wide variety of topics.
- Santa Cruz Hillel strives to strike a balance between our character as a student-serving organization that is responsive to the diverse constituencies and pluralistic ethos of the campuses we support and our role as a Jewish organization that works in partnership with the larger Jewish community.
