Birthright -- A Free Trip To Israel

Taglit-birthright Israel:Hillel trips provides FREE 10 day journeys to
Israel that include round trip airfare from LAX or New York, hotels,
transportation, and all touring. The trip is a gift from the Jewish
community to everyone who is 18-26 years old, Jewish (by the standards
of any movement) and never has participated in a group trip to Israel
that lasted more than five days. Highlights include Jerusalem, soaking
in the Dead Sea, an overnight in a Bedouin Tent in the Negev Desert
followed by sunrise at Masada, exploring the mystical city of Tzefat,
participating in an archeology dig, and meeting Israeli peers. |

Santa Cruz Hillel usually offers two trips: Winter Break (usually the
last week of December) and Summer (usually leaving the third week of
June). Registration is done on line through a central Hillel website.
All participants are interviewed and oriented by local Santa Cruz Hillel
staff and the summer trips are also staffed by SC Hillel. Registration
only takes a few minutes! There is deposit of $250 that must be paid
with a credit card. This deposit is refunded in full either if you
cancel before the deadline or if you participate in the trip and follow
all safety guidelines and rules. |

The trip is not political propaganda or religious indoctrination. It is
a social experience designed to bring Jews together with other Jews
while exploring our ancient and modern homeland. Educational
discussions and historical explanations are offered. Participants are
able to extend their return flights (for a small fee) to see more of
Israel or the Middle East on their own after the birthright trip ends.
